Live green or blue-the importance of water
One of my past bosses, lawyer Steven Shrybman was commenting at a recent conference on water in Ottawa, reiterating something that has been an issue pre-NAFTA: water should not be treated as a commodity as it needs to be protected as a basic human right. Shrybman was pushing for a policy to protect our water from privatization. Given how long many people have been pushing for this, one may be tempted to give up. However, I take comfort from the fact that there has been recent interest, media and public, in the state of climate change-its shocking really-like from zero to overwhelming.....so who knows? maybe water is next!
