Why do I want to be green?
Often people ask me-why am I green? Why don't I buy the beautiful Merecedes convertible I have always wanted? Why am I so obsessed with reducing and reusing? Fortunately, over the past few years, this has not been as prevalent a question as the green thing is fortunately really catching on! But if I were to answer that, I would have to say, for parents who were not even close to being activist or environmentalist, they did teach us a lot of things that contribute to my desire to be as green as I can. For years I have been chided by friends and coworkers for being too green (I have been called an environmental Nazi more than a few times for trying to get people on board with my green ideas!)....Having practiced environmental law for almost 20 years, I think it is understandable that I would want to green my life as much as possible! Now that I also sell a lot of real estate, the negative impacts of not only our industry (lots of driving and lots of paper use for example) but also the home building and renovation industries cause me increasing concern. I have also noticed that it is hard for people who want to reduce their impacts on the environment to actually find out how to do so easily. We are also doing as much as possible to reduce our negative environmental impacts at work and at home. As a professional realtor, one of my goals is to market as many green developments as possible. Through public speaking engagements and my daily interaction with clients, I would also like to spread the green word as far as possible....so that more and more people can LIVE GREEN NOW!!!!
